In contrast to Bob, I somehow miss the other half of the caterpilar in this colorful scene. The red looks fine to me with the green spots from the backround. MCsaba

My original reaction was that maybe if the red spikes were a bit desaturated, you'd be able to pull out more detail.
But - on second viewing, the less defined explosion of color also works very well and helps to highlight (contrast) the detail of the caterpillar. I also think have the back of the caterpillar cropped works well in this case.
