City Park Swans in Audubon Park

Audubon Park in New Orleans

My husband and I took a picnic supper to Audubon Park last evening. While sitting in this part of Audubon Park across St. Charles Avenue from Tulane and Loyola Universities one would never know a hurricane had devastated New Orleans only six and one-half weeks ago. This part of the Park suffered wind damage but no water damage.
Normally, the area would be teeming with students on a Friday evening but the universities will not reopen for a while. Only blocks north of this area one finds brown grass and shrubs and waterlines 5 feet high on buildings.
This is truly an oasis and the swans knew it.
I fed them two loaves of French bread and I do believe Mamma Swan remembered me as she ate right out of my hand.

What a wonderful, quiet place. It's nice that you included so much of the surrounding territory although the swans are clearly the focal point. Only people with beautiful souls can feed swans from their hands.

I find myself drawn to scenes like this. As always, you've done an excellent job of finding a great scene and capitalizing on it. It's good that your city is rebounding.

It looks like they've found a wonderful new home. And I am sure Mama Swan did remember you. Animals/birds never forget people. Lovely photo.
