Thanks, Rod. After looking at the richer colors in the smaller one, I really wish I had bracketed the original shot, as I prefer the composition of that one. Then I could have adjusted the background in PSE. Well, next time....

Well done Mary Anne the embedding worked. Initially I would say the embedded picy is better, but after you have mentioned the depth of the first one I can see what you mean. So I suppose its a case of whether to play it safe & post the pretty well exposed embedded one or the one with overexposure that does have depth & more life to it. I would agree you have made the right choice. Well done Mary Anne.
Rod, I knew you would pick up that blown area, but when I exposed for the background the photo lost the bluish haze, which I think gives more depth to the image. Here's a similar shot without the offending blown area.
(I've never tried embedding a photo inside a message, so I'm not sure if this will work.)

The overexposed background makes it hard to judge how good this shot is. I would have exposed on the background for this type of shot as the silhouettes are black anyway.
