This is a real, live, wild California condor! I was driving along Highway One when an ENORMOUS bird caught my eye, gliding on the updrafts coming up the cliffs from the Pacific. When it turned, I saw the bird's white "shoulders" under the wing and realized it was a condor. I pulled off into a pullout and snapped a few pictures with the 75-300mm. Afterward I saw a woman also watching the bird with binoculars and approached her to confirm my ID. She works for the Condor reintroduction program and was very surprised that I had recognized the bird. There are now over 100 condors living in the wild.
It was amazing and the most majestic bird I've ever seen in flight. Their wingspan can be up to 10 feet wide.
