New camera...

So here it is!! I've finally bought a new camera...
It is not a DSLR though... I've come to the conclusion that
they were too expensive and maybe too professional for me at this point.

So, I am still a compact camera girl :)

I feel that the world of compacts is not yet fully explored by me,
so this camera will be a partner to my kodak. I wanted a camera
with a big zoom and image stabilization, so after many days of
confronting all the options I've decided that I should by the Sony H1
which in fact was the one that I had planned to buy initially...

I want to thank all of the people who offered some precious advice
when I've asked about which type of camera I should buy... There were so many of you,
but still here are a few:

Agnes Csernova
Phil Douglis
Paulo Ferreira
Rod Stewart
Stewart-Lloyd-Jones
Lucie B
Isolde Peisl
Galina Stepanova
Pedro Libório
Iannis Rigakis
Chris
John Dorsey
Ira Moremberg
Kal Khogali
Richard Kirby
Utsav Arora
Jp De Loof
Scott Clarke
Pepe Zyman
Mariyah Gaspacho
Simple photography
Jorge Vasconcelos
Mark Rutter
Ezekiel 20
and... I am sorry if I forgot some more of you :( I probably did!!
Thank you so much once again.

Ana

Cool...I just checked out this camera...I think you'll be happy with the purchase. It's got good colors and seems to have below average fringing, too. But most importantly, you'll be behind it and that's what counts...any one can take a pic with a good camera...only, how many will be successful? You're one, for sure...you have a very good eye. Take care.

Edith said it all, Ana. The kind of camera you use is the least important aspect of photographic expression. It is only a tool, and if it helps you build the kind of ideas you wish to build it works for you. The work you show us in these galleries with your Kodak DX7630 is far more substantive than a lot of work I see made with DSLRs that cost four or five times more than your camera (and weigh four times more as well.) A passionate photographer with an open mind and a willingness to learn from his or her mistakes will do well with any tool. And someone who buys a camera thinking that money alone can buy such talent, insight, and understanding as you exhibit, is in for a disappointment.

Congratz Ana! Sometimes, it doesn't matter which type of camera you own. As long as you enjoy using it and you can create an image with impact. Like all the photos that you have made in your kodak camera.. :o) Enjoy and have fun with your new buddy! :o)
