Upon viewing this bulletin from the National Hurricane Center we decided it was time to pack up and get out. Thousands had already fled the City, heading north and west but my stoneheaded husband, who is a retired meteorologist of the U. S. Weather Bureau (now National Weather Service) had planned to ride it out at home.
