The west bay suspension section of the Bay Bridge crosses San Francisco Bay to Yerba Buena Island, linking
to the east bay cantilever and truss portion of the bridge that ends in Oakland. The west suspension
section is 9,260 feet (2,822 meters) long. The Bay Bridge is 23,000 feet, or 4.5 miles long.
