Bloody white balance...

27 September 2005

After yesterday's silence, I only seem to be in the mood to continue with my reticence. It was quite liberating not having to think of something to write, not having to try to strike the right balance between bad prose and worse puns, with the odd rant thrown in for good measure. Reading Joe Jones's excellent blog only succeeded in making me feel inadequate. Gavin called round and we headed up to North Balluderon in search of photographic opportunities. Silly me forgot to check the white balance, so, of the 78 pictures I took, approximately two turned out - of which this is the better. I'm sure Gavin wouldn't make such an elementary error, so I can't wait to see his images. We had a mini adventure on the way back to the house. Linda, who uses the car 99% of the time, doesn't seem to know either where to purchase petrol, or how to put it in the tank. As a result of this, and my principled decision not to fill the car up before leaving (okay, I forgot my wallet), we made it home on fumes. There will be fun and games on the school run tomorrow, methinks. On an altogether different note, I must once again thank you all for viewing and voting for Neglected, and for getting it into the top three!

Last year I read a funny but true story about people being arrested for buying potatoes

I'm always taking photos on the wrong settings - that's why photoshop is my best friend even though really I'd prefer it not to be!

Two good ones out of only 78, result.

Yup, love that Auto white balance... Your comments remind me of the time I forgot to check the ISO and realized after 100 shots or so, in white-hot sun, it was set on 1600...

I like it

You've given the game away. You should always pretend that it was a deliberate arty effect when that happens ;-)

No-one's mentioned the 'R' word? I like the composition but would be interested to see the results of a warm up filter and a boost to the saturation using the 'P' word.

Well Stu, I think your blog/posts of the day are pretty neat yourself. And the reflection is lovely in the water here. I hope the school run went well!

but we so look forward to your writings Stu... :) this is a moody shot, very melancholy, with soft colors and stark shadows.

Stu once again I find myself in total agreement with you, I like money as well.
I also like the silhouettes and reflections of the grasses , and the fact that I found out that the Google tool bar has got a spell checker

Interesting shot with the band of shadow through the centre, dividing the sky & it's reflection.

I don't know if I like the photo or your caption better, but I can say I do like the photo a lot.
But then there's the bit about the potatoes...
