Don't know what makes the blue show up sometimes and other times it seems more gray. This is the 2nd of the two local great blue herons. The one that I normally see was sitting in his tree roost and a short distance away I stumbled across this one - which seems just a bit smaller. The pond reflection is about as close to a mirror as any I've seen.
Off to Vermont tomorrow for a week. Hoping for covered bridges, New England villages and fall color - and my new automobile GPS navigator to keep me from getting too lost.
