The Dawn

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Inspired by the few of you who seem to rise at the crack of dawn (why do they say crack?) I took on the day early to prepare for a morning conference call. Shucks, I even snagged this shot before I drove to Starbucks to get some go juice.

First of all, I just have to comment on the depth and breadth of the Robin Reid fan club - WOW!!
Lovely photo, Robin. Most particularly, I love the sky. It's amazing.
Guest 22-Sep-2005 05:29
Well I don't know why they call it "crack" of dawn and this may be TMI. But when I was a young Marine, after 4 or 5 days on duty, I used to get so ...uh ...well ... uh ...you know, that even the crack of dawn wasn't safe.

...And it wasn't!

Ya know, I saw the edges and put it down to different lights behind the tress, and filtered light. Didn't bother me at all It's some sky, no matter how you mess with it.

I'm never outdoors when it's the crack of dawn.
Wish I were so that I can take a pic as lovely as this,Robin!

I was going to say "What a gorgeous photo." But after reading the comments, I see now the flaws. Well, at least to the casual observer it's a beautiful photo.
Pepe Zyman21-Sep-2005 03:48
Fantastic shot!
Wasn't it fun yesterday night with all the lighting?
Guest 21-Sep-2005 03:13
I am not an early morning riser either so it is nice to see a sunrise that I don't have to get out of bed for. That is about how the sky looked here (just a bit farther north of you) last night before a nice little thunderstorm passed through.
royalld21-Sep-2005 02:13
Well worth the early rise, Robin. Will we see more sunrises in the future?
Cindy Flood21-Sep-2005 01:56
The sky is so beautiful as the sun is rising.
Elaine (etfitz)21-Sep-2005 01:33
Wonderful sky!

"Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day......"
Mindy McNaugher20-Sep-2005 23:35
Beautiful sunrise! Stunning clouds and colors! Very dramatic! Love the reflected light glistening on the road! It's been rumored that Pittsburgh doesn't have nice sunrises, so, I don't bother! ;-) But you should again! Lovely!
Herb 20-Sep-2005 23:28
Petesie is right, you should try this more often, great image.
petesie20-Sep-2005 22:44
I never thought about why they call it the crack...I wonder. Anyway, I love the crack of dawn and I love this image. Lovely and you just need to try it more often.

Ian Clowes20-Sep-2005 21:37
But it does feel good when you get the PaD so early!
Guest 20-Sep-2005 21:16
It's called the crack because getting up at that time breaks us eventually!! This was well worth the effort though - beautiful sky and I love the glistening on the road.
Sharon Rogers20-Sep-2005 21:15
Crack, because that's what (my) back does getting out of bed ;-) Ths is a wonderful shot, love the light on the wet road.
Rene Hales20-Sep-2005 20:59
I like this. I am not finding the words to tell you why, but it speaks to me and that is enough.--Rene
