Steve Sprengel

Sunken Garden, Lincoln, Nebraska

I spent an hour at the lily ponds, mostly using a tripod and cable release to allow for a large depth of field with a slow shutter, but I liked this shot the best, which was from the beginning while I was still hand-holding the camera.

The petals were too bright compared to the leaves, so I converted a bit bright coming out of ACR, then used a little Shadow/Highlight to dim-down the petals.

Stunning colour, beautiful composition and great use of DOF. Janet

Great composition that has a 3D feel; I especially like the muted foliage in the background to the sharp colorful lily bloom.

I like it, Steve. A flourescent (maybe surreal) quality to the petals. JimM
