Evening Shadow

The evening light always makes everything looks so beautiful. This is a white fence, but it has the glow of the evening sunset on it.

The kids returned to school today. They were excited to be back. We are bringing the displaced kids in two different groups. Tuesday will be the resident kids who attended private schools in Jefferson and New Orleans which is about 600 kids. Then on Thursday we will bring in the 1000 who have registered so far displaced kids. This is so that we have enough time to secure portables, hire extra teachers, find desks and chairs, etc. We are not sure how many extra children our school will be getting. We are supposed to find out next week.

I like this as a SP, and the sunset color is great.

It is good to see that things are at least beginning to get back to some sort of normality. I hope you are all keeping well despite the tragedy of the past few weeks.

A very clever self portrait. It's amazing how you are gradually forging order out of that chaos. I hope you are keeping careful notes for when you write your biography.

And the shadow is your SP. The fence does have a special glow. I keep thinking about all that work you did getting your classroom ready and how pretty everything looked. We just never can take anything for granted, can we?

Very nice sunset colors and shadow.
I'm sure that it will be really busy with all the extra kids, but the satisfaction of contributing to
their future will make it all worthwhile.

Nice composition Elaine. I wish you all the very best with your return to school. If children are as resilient as they are portrayed they will thrive in your care.

Nice shadow....I've been drawn to shadows myself lately:)

We have many from the gulf coast here in Illinois too. It is stunning, the impact Katrina has had...

I've known that there are a lot of displaced kids starting school in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. However, today I found out that our little village is now home to some of the people who fled the hurricane and there are at least thirty students from the devastated areas in our schools. Good luck, that is a big hurdle you are facing, but I know all of you will smooth the way for the new students.

Very nice soft shadow in the evening light. I look forward to seeing all of the children settled soon so that their life becomes as normal as possible. I hope your day today was fun!
