...of the Tennyson Memorial, sitting at the highest point at the summit of Tennyson Down, some 482 feet above sea level.
Most of the area is covered in springy turf, which is rich in downland flowers and wildlife.
Nearly all the way along, there are trenches cut across Tennyson Down at right-angles to the coast:
dug during the Second World War to stop enemy gliders from landing.....
