Beacon

Isle of Wight, Hampshire, UK

A half-size replica of the old Nodes Beacon -- erected by the Rotary Club of West Wight to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977 --
which stands prominently beside a stile (and a fragment of the original beacon) at the centre of the figure-of-eight.

Until it was taken down in 1897, the beacon was a well-known landmark (standing where the Tennyson memorial now stands...),
which still features on the seal of Totland Parish Council.
