Our first climb was supposed to be Polemonium Peak/North Palisade, but we didn't have a lot of time for recon, so we opted for Thunderbolt peak - which Bud and Santosh knew the route having already climbed it two years prior. What we didn't expect was this huge snowfield almost completely blocking the chute just below the chockstone (we hadn't seen any reports of more than a little snow here and there, so we had no crampons or axes). Here Santosh is climbing in the foot or so of space between the snow and the North chute wall.
