Simon, I like the smooth form of this cheese plate...and how it seems to hover above the "grainy" sea below. The form is so "amoeboid"...I can imagine the human potential. Artistically seen...well taken. MFC

Hi and thanks for the wonderful comments. I'm experimenting a fair bit these days so expect the unexpected. Helen - the main piece of wood is from Tasmania and is a cheese plate (the handle is the 'head' in the shot). I'm trying for a more artistic approach to my photos ie: hoping to get to a stage where the viewer will have trouble being able to tell whether it's a straight photo, or a litho, drawing et cetera. Anything that moves the image to become something else. Glad you can see the subtle beauty here. Thanks again.
Beautifully conceived and captured shot, Simon. Your perspective is outstanding. From the thumbnail and title, I imagined a giant mirror overlooking the Earth reflecting all of humanity... I recognize the mirror as similar to the many lovely pieces I bought while living in Canberra :-). Helen
Very nice image, Simon. I like the very visible grain in the sculptured piece and how it contrasts the slightly more than visible grain of the background. Your perspective also allows the viewer to almost "feel" the smoothness of the woodcarving.---Deb
