Red squirrels are a common site at every campsite in the BWCA. They are unafraid of people and very vocal critters. They seem to look upon campers as unwanted guests in their domain (although they are the first to scoop up any crumbs dropped). They (seemingly) enjoy waking up campers with their loud pre-dawn chatter and often will drop pine cones, acorns, etc on tents in order to get attention.
