New Orleans

It will be one year Sept 16th that I had to do this and here we go again. Hurricane Katrina does not look good and it looks like the eye will pass over where I live. I'm out ot here. We need your prayers. Thanks

Mary and I are safe in Plano TX right now but I understand that the house may have about six feet of water in it. Keep praying for those still in New Orleans, it is crazy down there. One policeman was shot today but is doing well. Thanks for all the prayers and best wishes.

Something new::

House Speaker: Rebuilding N.O. doesn't make sense.
This is the comment from the speaker of the house and I sure hope not the rest of the country. If it is, then we need to take a harder look at New York, San Francisco, Florida, and all of the Mississippi valley.
I have been a voting republican and can not believe what was said. This was brought on by negligence of the Corps of Engineers. No one has mentioned that the Corps dredged the 17th Street Canal to increase the water flow through there. But all they did was to weaken the support structure of the levee walls and caused the breaches.
There is not a place in this nation that something catastrophic couldn’t happen. I was born in New Orleans and have lived through Betsy and Camille and have not seen anything like this during my 54 years. My grandparents and my parents never saw this kind of destruction either.
I do want to say that I am embarrassed about what has been going on in New Orleans, this is not how the vast majority of the citizens act .The good people of New Orleans do not condone this kind of lawlessness. I sure hope that the act of a comparable few is not making people feel this way. No high ranking public official called for the nation to abandon Los Angeles when the riots broke out.
My wife and I got out on Sunday to Plano TX to be with our family but I sure want to get back to work.
CSX, the company I work for, is trying to find a place were I can temporary transfer to and go back to work. Until then, we need your prayers and not to be abandon.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Dovie, Jr.
