MFC this looks like burled maple with the random lines and patterns that elevate a simple wooden vase into something very special. I like the crop that accentuates the curves. Nice display of texture and shadows.

Beautiful lighting, detail and composition Mike. I think we have similar taste, judging by the type of fine crafts that you've photographed over the years for these challenges :-). Helen

Definitely your signature work though, I think in this case, the border debases the image. Maybe it's me who needs to not react in a conditioned way to your work... but it's hard to do. I like the way you apply your vision and I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought. Personally I'm finding it hard to experiment in public.

Nice presentation. I like the tight closeup to show the beautiful curves and woodgrain.

Mike - beautiful interplay of light and shadow here that sets off the veneer in your wooden vase. Perfectly complemented with a trademark MFC border! Very very nice! ~gk

Nice mood. Almost looks like marble. ~ Lonnit

MFC, nice choice for your first contribution to the 100th challenge. The lighting and the soft curves really give this image a moody feel.---Deb

Nice composition - I love the low-key lighting and the patterns and textures in the vase!
