I love the texture and lighting on this piece, Mike. Wonderful! The small area of diagonal flooring in the LL corner adds some nice contrast.

Thanks for answering, Mike. I'll try those settings sometime :)

Thanks for the comments. Deb, this is part of an outdoor sculpture, purposely "rough-cut" that way. Katherine, a tripod was used...also, my very last step in processing, even after downsizing, is to apply some USM (unsharp mask). The settings are usually 80-100%, 1.0 pixel, 5 levels (Amt, Radius, Threshold). Does that answer your questions o.k.? MFC

Beautiful close-up composition - I love the lighting, color and the clarity of detail in the wood! Your photos are generally perfectly sharpened. Probably mostly because you use a tripod, but I'd like to know what you do to sharpen in post-processing.

MFC, I really like the different shades of wood in this image. This is a wonderful abstract. I especially like the knot seemingly trying to pull itself out of the surrounding wood. Is this part of a chopping block? I'm seeing what looks like axe or wedge marks.---Deb
