Dave Smith

Severna Park, MD

This immature red-tail hawk (wing span about 2 feet) grabbed a rabbit from my back yard and ate it on the woodpile at the back of the yard. By the time I got the FZ-10, the poor bunny was almost gone. The picture was taken through two panes of glass (storm window and regular window pane) with a TCON 14B. I didn't want to open the window or go outside, assuming the motion would spook him. The focus and resolution came out well in spite of the non-optical glass in the way.

Very nice shot, Dave. His piercing eye, sharp beak and talons are awesome. I think I'm glad the rabbit isn't more recognizable - just a part of nature, I realize, though.
