grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Wednesday 24th August - Day 249

Not because of this picture, but the one I didn't/couldn't take. Driving home, I noticed a single engined aircraft taking off from Exeter airport - funny, thought I, especially when it took a sharp right and it was obvious it was a spitfire... my arm started moving at this moment, almost instinctively, to the camera bag, just as a MASSIVE four engined beast lumbered into the air.... yep, the RAF Battle of Britain memorial flight was taking off and I wasnt ready...... by the time I was, they were out of range.... arrrrrrrrrgh... better check their schedules better in the future :(

Anyway, I'm sure there is something in the water this week, another one. this time of the East Ockment.

wonderful motion in the water.

Such a distant, old-fashioned look to this photo. Beautiful work.
I'm sure the planes will be there another day...

Personally, I think this image is way more interesting that some airplain ... but that just MY opinion! (There, does that make you feel a bit better for missing it???)
This is gorgeous!

superb!

Beautiful photo, Lee. I really like this in black and white, too. It has a very ethereal quality to it.

You know, beinge all girlie and everything, I'm glad you didn't post a picture of a spitfire... ;-) I really, really like this!

I agree the water looks so silky I would call it.. tell me your secret..

Very dreamy! Vote.
Sorry to hear to miss the shot you want but I like this one very much.

If this was second choice then the spitfire would have been totally awesome. Great shot Lee.

I love this scene of the rushing water. I can almost hear it with the slippery stones to walk across. Nice "I'd like to be there" kind of photo.

Love this stunning shot! Gorgeous tones, fabulous capture of the stream, and as said below, a wonderful dreamy quality to the image! Definitely a vote!

Well, I just love this image. It suggests a dream state to me. Sorry you missed your "prize" shot, but this is a more than suitable substitute!
Guest 24-Aug-2005 23:55
Magical water ... were you standing in the middle of it? :)
Guest 24-Aug-2005 22:48
It's sickening to miss stuff like that. President Bush was in town today, but I was not able to be anywhere close. I can feel your pain. This is beautiful.

Water theme? Very good idea and this is an excellent B&W image.

f25? Damn, I really need a new camera ('Grrrs' at stoopid f8 limit !!) That is a fab IR effect!

Big huge WOW! Excellent tonal range. Dreamy shutter speed and exposure. Sweet natural setting and composition. Perfect light. Vote for this special B&W!

Pity about missing the Memorial Flight - but this shot is great as a substitute!

Had a helicopter skim the top of the house last week, so close I could see the whites of their eyes...same thing. Still I like the sound this image conjures up.

I am so sorry about that missed photo. I like this dreamy scene.
Guest 24-Aug-2005 18:40
I wouldn't grrrrrrr at this, it's really good! I love the water movement, and the dreamy finish you gave it (not dreams of town centres ok!)

Really, it's a good one! How did you get the IR look? I don't particularly LOVE IR, but, in this picture it looks good.
