21st August 2005

These are the beaches I grew up on. Today, I suddenly saw a little girl in
an orange bikini, just like I used to have 30 years ago.

Had a bit of a Proustian moment, and wanted to try and convey that
in the faded look of the shot. I've also been looking too much at the work of
British photographer Paul Graham, who uses fog as a metaphor for division in his shots.
I wanted to try and create the feeling of remembering that innocent absorption,
but at the same time feeling so removed from it. Oddly, after taking this shot,
I realised there was also a line drawn in the sand, in the foregound!

I just love this, it has a timeles look, and almost a tattered olf photo feel? I mean that in a good way!

Nice idea. Much more interesting than a straight shot. Although that would have been nice too. Good work,
