Who is top of the league? Tottenham Hotspur FC of course!!!!!!!
Well, the last time I could say that was after three games in the season about seven years or so ago so even though I know all the facts about it being a bit meaningless as we’ve only played two (of the 38 in the new campaign) games, I’m still going to revel in this little moment of glory.
When the league table came up on the telly in the Bell and Hare the biggest cheer went up – it was a wonderful moment.
I have had the happiest birthday. Beer, footie, a win (2-0 hee hee), Sarah and the rest of the gang, chips on the station and home to bed – doesn’t get much better than that!
The start of the season ‘proper’ for me as it’s the start of our home campaign and not an easy fixture to kick us off. Middlesborough are a good side and they are tipped to finish the season in a European spot, just like us. Beating them wasn’t going to be easy but a win was vital if we are to stand any chance of getting our club back into Europe.
In the event, the game was controlled by Spurs and we never looked really under pressure. Robbo made a couple of great saves and we see that Sven was in the crowd so Robbo’s ‘England’s No 1’ seems sealed with James cocking up so badly midweek. Defoe also showed his style to Sven with a corker of a goal.
So, we will start Sunday morning top of the league and with a perfect set of six glinting, sparkling, pristine points under our belt. It may be short-lived because both ARSEnal and Chelski are playing tomorrow and each has three points so a win for either side might knock us off our perch but it’ll be a tough game and our points are in the bag already.
Here is a shot of our signing from the middle of last season, Andy Reid who has proved himself to be very useful!
So, our confidence is high and next Saturday is our biggest test – Chelsea at home. Can we finally get rid of that bogey? Of course we can! Bring them on…..
Last year I was in a very different place for my birthday and two years ago, DM was making me happy.
