Went to a local park on top of a mountain (large hill) and took a bunch of shots of various things. On the way back, I noticed a black bundle in a tree. After taking a closer look, I realized there was a porcupine in the tree.
This was a close as I dared go armed with nothing more than a Canon EF 100 f/2.8 Macro, a Digital Rebel XT, and a monopod! One does not tempt fate when dealing with porcupines.
He seemed to tolerate my fidgetting around, he even handled the flash like a pro. I wish I had a bit stronger lens for this task (200mm or so) but thanks to the sharpness of the 100, I can make it up in the crop.
