Not Normal
but
All Right

Funny / interesting story goes with this.

The current 'Sony Talk Forum' challenge is "Things that Fly".
It was very stormy today, and windy. I went down to the post office about 11 p.m. to see if I could get a picture of the lighted flag "flying".
(laugh if you want -- it still counts).

Well, the flag wasn't lit tonight, and the wind had died down so I turned around to go home.
On the way back home I noticed this barn with the lights on; I'd seen it many times before and wanted to stop and get a picture of it someday.
The camera's in the car, the tripod is in the car...what am I waiting for?
I turned around and went back, looking for a place to turn around. Didn't find one the first time, so I turned around and went back again. Keep in mind this is getting on toward midnight on a narrow, steep-shouldered country road.
So I thought, what harm is there in parking in this driveway? It was very conveniently located to the barn, and the drive itself is probably 500 feet long. I'll be in and out, get my pictures before anyone notices or a car even goes by.

I pull in, turn my lights off, and no sooner than I get out of the car than a voice calls out of the darkness, "Do you need some help?"
Well, the general answer to that is, 'yes', of course.
The owner comes walking down the drive toward me, and I very sheepishly go to meet him halfway, hoping that my camera doesn't look like a weapon in the darkness (yeah, that and all 5 feet of me are really going to scare someone). Anyway, he was very nice (cute, too!) and told me to take as long as I wanted; he'd just seen me driving past a couple of times and wanted to make sure everything was all right. (I'm not normal, but I'm all right.)

That is one lovely barn and I love your story. I hope you gave him your Pbase address. He'd be very pleased with your image of his barn. (I've been asked so many times if I'm all right when I stop to take photos, I love your answer....all right, but not normal. That's me, too.)

This almost has a Christmas Card feel to it - those lights - in the building and in the sky - are magical.
Voted.
