Return to Base

Kathy and I flew up to the Mendenhall Glacier in a helicopter, then joined the rest of our group for a few hours of walking over the ice. On overcast days like this one, the ice can be quite blue. The water issued out of an opening in the ice just below the hikers.

Love the blue ice and the composition. I've been in glacial ice caves and it is amazing to see that blue. This photograph, like those caves, has an unreal look about it. Very nice image and the figures definitely add to the shot. Vote.
