Cove Mountain from Henry Way.jpg

Located just north of the park is Wears Valley, which is properly a cove, not a valley. Valley or cove, it is dominated by Cove Mountain which rises to 4,000', approximately 3,000 above the valley floor. The boundary to the park runs across the ridgeline shown in the photo. Developers are now in the process of securing permits to build homes across the face of this priceless mountain.
Are we bitter? Oh, yes.

You bet we're bitter. Folks are drawn to move here by the beauty of the mountains, which they love so much they destroy it with endless chalets and other junk. (Same goes for the lakes.) Beautiful winter scene, and the way I remember Wear's Valley. v

It's something we see too often everyday. I often want to move so I won't see what's disappearing to the almighty buck.

What a shame. Soon there won't be any beautiful landscape for us to capture. It is getting harder and harder to find undeveloped natural settings.
