The St. Croix River not only forms a section of the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin, it is also a designated national scenic riverway. Scores of campsites exist for use on a first come, first serve basis all along its length. The upper section of the river is wild and has motorized boat restrictions. Thus it's a haven for canoeists and kayakers. The lower section is a playground for the wealthy with their large cruisers, houseboats, jet skis, etc.
