Yes...this one too was a bit overcompressed, but it wasn't as badly affected because I had only opened and resaved it once, and because I didn't run as much USM to it. The other shot was saved twice at 15 each time. I posted the lesser-compressed version here now...not a drastic difference, but some artifacts disappeared from the horizon line. I had discovered this last night when posting my billiards shot in Eligible...it looked terrible after the editing then the resize. The light bulb went on a little late...but at least it went on!

Justin, do your comments about the JPG compression problems on Shadow and Light also apply to this image? Hard to believe it was overcompressed, but if so it would be interesting to see the "improved" version.... --David W.

Thanks...I actually did shoot it both ways, but when I looked at them both, I really liked the foreground focus version better, just because it was a little different. The shot with the background in focus was shot in portrait orientation...but I liked the landscape framing better too for showing the water to the left.

I think the foreground detail really makes the shot. I love the lighting and the way the shadows allow you too see individual stones. It would have been a nice shot with OOF foreground, too, but this is a more unusual way of seeing it....

I like the scene and composition a lot. Not fussy about the only slightly OOF background, though... maybe because the foreground is not really the main point of interest in the shot - not to me, anyway...
