Despite the poor performance by Celtic during midweek, I nonetheless took the plunge and paid my annual subscription to Setanta today. I couldn't make up my mind as to whether it was worth the £140 or not. Before Wednesday I was almost certain that I was going to pay up, then after Wednesday I thought that it might just be a waste of money. This morning I was still in not buying mode, but I knew I was growing weaker the closer it got to kick-off. Linda asked me if I was going to watch the game or not, I told her that I would probably either go down to the pub to watch it or listen to it on the radio. She told me that I should just pay the subscription. I feigned concern at the cost. By 11.30, with one-hour to kick-off, I succumbed to temptation, logged on to the Setanta website, filled in the form and paid my subscription. One hour later we all sat down to watch the Motherwell v. Celtic game. I wish I hadn't bothered. Leading 3-1 at half-time, we managed to concede another three goals during the second-half - all of them from headers, and one of them scored by the smallest man on the park. Some pride was salvaged with our substitute striker scoring an equaliser one minute into the three minutes added time. Talk about a close shave! We have now managed to concede nine goals in two games - a pretty appalling defensive record, it has to be said. After two games, I am beginning to get a little concerned about our defensive frailties. The rest of the day was spent putting new locks on our back doors. Like everything about this house, it was not straightforward, and it eventually took me three hours to get them fitted properly. Still got one new mortice to go... I think I'll just pay a joiner!
