Almost all Americans and many from other countries have heard of the Alamo in San Antonio but almost no one knows that the Alamo was only one of 5 missions there along the San Antonio River. This was shot at the reconstructed Mission San Jose about 5 miles south of the Alamo. This is the ruins of the old living quarters, library and offices of the monks that ran the mission. This and the church itself were reconstruted as part of the WTA projects during the depression. The mission is under the control of the National Park Service but is still operated as a church by the archdiocese of San Antonio.
