The Maasai have always used traditional methods to make a fire. They do this by rubbing a stick into another piece of wood to cause enough friction and heat to start a fire. It had rained the night before and the wood had become damp, making it very difficult to get a fire going. Normally two people would do the job, but today, an extra guy in the foreground is on standby. He seems to be rubbing his hands eagerly in anticipation, and also getting ready to help his friend out any minute.
