This is a three-shot composite high dynamic range (HDR) image, tone mapped to 16 bit.
Unlike my other HDR images, the three shots were made hand-held, and images reregistered manually.

(the flag moved, of course, in between exposures.)
The heels of my feet were at the ocean's edge as I photographed this.

Exposure bracketing delta was 2 f-stops (varying shutter speed).
Nikkor 18-70 mm at 38 mm, f/13.
