Least Sandpiper, breeding plumage Fall

Edwards NWR, Alviso

These little guys go around most of the time hunched over in the posture that reminds bird-watchers of a mouse. This one stood tall -- not just in this picture, but the whole time I watched it. I at first thought "maybe a Pectoral Sandpiper" when I saw the bird, as it looked so much bigger than the other LESAs. But that was just the effect of the unusual posture.
