24-07-05 the view from the stand

Taken from the stand behind the 18th green at Royal Aberdeen.

After playing four rounds of golf, there was nothing to separate Tom Watson from Des Smyth. So
they went back and played the 18th again in a sudden death play off. In fairness it’s more of a
creeping death play-off when it comes to golf, but lets not allow details to get in the way of a
good commentary. After playing the 18th twice, in the only poor piece of planning the entire
weekend, they decided to play the 17th again. Leaving everyone in the 18th stand, who had sat
there for hours, waiting for this moment, stranded. True to form the match was then decided at the
17th with Tom Watson eventually winning.

Photo-wise the day was a bit more sparse, the "no-camera’s" man I taunted came back to haunt me. He
was in the stands, and was pretty convinced that the party line stood.

All in all a good day out.

Awesome. Foreboding clouds and a great 'over the shoulder' view

Looks beautiful there.

Nice shot, Dominic. What a way to spend an afternoon - the only thing worse than watching would be playing!

Nice photo Dom, shame about the poor canon user "chimping in the foreground!

Nice wide photo, good foreboding sky.

Great job! Looks much cooler there than here, for sure - but Royal Aberdeen is situated on a lovely piece of oceanfront property, eh? I think that's a raw deal going back to the 17th to decide the results, and all the people in the stands sitting idly by. Talk about anticlimactic! Poor management decision. Hope you had lots of fun.
