Alta Vista *

Seattle, Washington

The new Seattle Central Library designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas.

While I had my D60 at eye level to take a meter reading, these two girls ran by me to get a better look over the railing. I snap this picture a second before their father admonished them for getting in front of people’s camera. He looked apologetic when I said “Thank you”.

Thanks for the complement camerashy09.
As soon as the girls leaned over the railing, I knew I had a good picture. I shifted slightly to the side to line up one girl with the base of the diagonal pillar, focused, re-composed, and fired.
However, I cannot take credit for the geometric patterns. That belongs to the architect.
The lighting was not subdued, but high contrast. According to a local photographer I met here, this was an unusually sunny day for Seattle. On a cloudy day, the diffused light brings out the details of the building much better.

I'm glad the girls got in your way. I love the subdued lighting and the geometric patterns.
