Part of the Eyes Wide Open exhibit displayed on the lawn of the Diag at the University of Michigan
this week. The sign, in part, reads in memory of Sgt. Pederson of Michigan "Who loved basketball."
The exhibit is a display of military boots, each pair representing one of the American soldiers killed
in Iraq. I guess you can look at the display in distinctly different ways - one simply as a solomn and
touching memorial to the sacrifices these men and women have made for their country or as a
protest of the Iraqi war - or both. Regardless of your feelings about the war it is hard to look out at
the sea of boots, knowing what they repesent.
