長海是所有湖泊中最大的一個。她位於九寨溝海拔3000多米的溝頂，約長8公里，寬約1公里。這裏地勢開闊，空氣清新，湖色湛藍，清澈見底，而周圍濃密的原始森林更加深了湖的藍色，給人以空曠廣袤之感。
