Private First Class (E-3)
The insignia, consisting of a single chevron, which was
previously authorized for private first class, was authorized
for private E2. A new insignia was authorized for private first
class which consisted of one chevron above one arc per DA
Message 868848, dated 28 May 1968.

Completed basic training and is enlisted in the army.
May function in a variety of roles. May require a high
school diploma or its equivalent. Must spend at least 9
months as an E-2. Relies on instructions and pre-established
guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under
immediate supervision.
