13July2005 Sea-tacean Celebration

Mystic, CT

Photo a Day, Day 106...From July-October from Westerly, RI to Old Lyme, CT there are 47 whales on display... there are also 3 others: one each in New York, Boston, and Newport... For a total of 50 whales... I'm hoping to photograph and make collages of each of them.... Wondering if I should put the collages up as my Photo A Day or just a raw shot of a whale and put the collages in another gallery??? How true to an actual photograph should I be for my Photo A Day??...

"The Whale Trail" is a public art event in the nature of the famous "Cow Parade". At the end of the viewing period all of the whales will be auctioned off for charity.... There are 2 molds of whales. One is a Sperm Whale (the Connecticut State Animal) and the other is a Beluga Whale - which this one happens to be... All are 5 feet tall... This one is covered with a mosaic in glass which is absolutely incredible!

A week late on the "Stranger" challenge... I actually photographed a few today.. One was a boy who was practicing his skateboard in a parking lot. I asked his dad if I could take some shots as it was quite cool how he was flipping the board in the air and landing. Later there were two little girls whose mother prompted that it was fine if I wanted to take their pictures...

The best part about PAD is that you get to make your own rules, lol! Do what feels best ... I will enjoy seeing the results! :)

I think you should do what makes yo happy! I really like what you've done here CJ, this is absolutely beautiful and really honors the exhibit as well as the artist and at the sametime displays your talents with photography.
I look forward to them whatever you decide.
