The weather in Florida can be misleading at times. What you see here in this serene photo is my pool and the “noodles” floating placidly is part of the hurricane preparations for today. By throwing them in the pool, it usually will prevent them from being picked up by the wind and being hurled miles away. Though it’s in the mid nineties with a bright blazing sun, we’re under a hurricane warning here on the Gulf Coast in which already 1.4 million people have been ordered evacuated and over 20 people have been killed so far. A real danger on a day like today, … a day that’s peaceful and serene and knock-me-down gorgeous, … is to convince folks that a lion is about to pounce on their heads and rip their face off. Though I too had a “hurricane party” today, I kept a watchful eye on what this storm was doing. It’s a guy thing you know. Though Gerie and I both love a ripping storm with thunder and lightning, we also understand the real danger in a monster like the one that’s creeping up here to our home.
