After traveling 1,496 miles over 12 days (7 short days on the road) via Yuma, Phoenix, Mounument Valley, Durango, Santa Fe and Taos, I have finally arrived in Colorado Springs, Colorado (my home town) where I will stay for the summer using it as a base for travels around the State.
Arriving in town I was greeted with a brief thunderstorm. (For my Southern California friends I need to explain that a downpour like this is the product of beautiful white cumulus clouds that pile up high in the sky and dumps wonderful cleansing water with a crash and a roar. Afterwards there is the most wonderful odor of freshness and ozone.)
As time permits over the next week or so I'll post more images of my entire trip, but for now it is time to settle in.
This image is Mount Blanca (14,435 ft. or 4,372 m. for my metric friends) about 90 miles as the crow flies from here. The view is from the San Luis Valley looking north after driving up from Taos.
