A close relative of the Ocoee Salamander. Ocoee, Carolina Mountain, and three other species (including Blue Ridge Dusky, seen later) were previously grouped together because they are so similar in appearance. These are among the more colorful members of the Dusky genus. This one was under a log, where it looked very much like a Red-backed Salamander (see New Jersey Amphibians).
