Phytolacca americana (Pokeweed) is an interesting perennial with black berries (not yet formed but poisonous) and poisonous roots. The emerging shoots can be gathered (before turning pink), cooked and eaten as greens.

Nice to see what the Pokeweed looks like. Isn't it odd that the roots and berries are poisonous but you can eat the young greens.
