To garden in Central Texas it helps to be a masochist, or stupid. I am
neither, but I keep trying. Yesterday I hoped to find Black-eyed Susans at
the Wildseed Farm....they were growing them for seed, (see the photo below)
but had none for sale. I watered yesterday before I left for Fredericksberg,
probably around 7 AM....I was busy today and didn't get out in the garden until
around 3....see what the heat did to my one Black-eyed Susan plant.
This heat and lack of rain is very unforgiving. The plant is wet because I had just watered it.
They will perk up by morning, but no rain in sight. Last summer we had around
16 inches in June....this year....0! I do love living here, but it is a challenge.
