To garden in Central Texas it helps to be a masochist, or stupid. I am
neither, but I keep trying. Yesterday I hoped to find Black-eyed Susans at
the Wildseed Farm....they were growing them for seed, (see the photo below)
but had none for sale. I watered yesterday before I left for Fredericksberg,
probably around 7 AM....I was busy today and didn't get out in the garden until
around 3....see what the heat did to my one Black-eyed Susan plant.
This heat and lack of rain is very unforgiving. The plant is wet because I had just watered it.
They will perk up by morning, but no rain in sight. Last summer we had around
16 inches in June....this year....0! I do love living here, but it is a challenge.

They look like I did when I lived in Texas, somewhat wilted.

Looks like they had a tough day, too. Good image, it captures the heat.

Same here. I'm trying to teach the boys how to garden, or at least water the garden, while I'm at work but it's slow going. My garden is suffering.

Aww, I think that's its defense from the heat. I'll come visit--I went to my Montz house today to water and right when I drove in the driveway it rained buckets.

Poor little flower. I know what you mean. We're watering daily right now with the extreme heat we've had.

Gorgeous colors and wonderful detail! Poor flower!

Nice detail and you know I love withered and decaying flowers so much more than beautiful perfect ones.. they look like they are ashamed of something.. the color and clarity are amazing

It is so sad, isn't it? The colours are brilliant in your image, and I love the furry leaves. :)

Even wilted this is still a great close up. I love the color.

No wonder you've no rain there, all the rain in creation seems to be falling on these sceptred isles!

Pretty good when you can make even a wilted flower look fascinating! I love the bright colors. Good thing they are tough and Susan will be perky again by morning.

Fabulous close-up! Love the colors and all the 'hairy' detail!
