I've had a nest of barn swallows on my porch for several weeks.
Below you can see a photo I took a few days ago, Momma and 3 babies.
This morning when I went out to get the paper the nest was on the ground. I
tried feeding them, but they would not open their mouths. I put the nest on top of a step
ladder and she is feeding them....but there are only two. I hope they make

That is one blue eye! My mother made a mixture of mashed boiled potato and mashed boiled egg yolks (made a ball of it mixed all together) and fed little tiny bits of it at a time to a bird, every hour or so. She saved hundreds of baby birds through the years this way.
