Safrano

My name is Safrano. I am a tea rose.
AKA Amie Plantier
I was bred in France in 1839 by M.Beauregard at Angers

Graham Stuart Thomas names me as an historic old piece giving good
account for itself in a sheltered position.

It is winter where I am growing & my 1.8 metre tall bush is covered in safron blooms & apricot buds.
I defy convention & go my own way. I am a delight to have around.

Here I am again. It was windy & overcast & not the best day for taking photos

You've done pretty well here. Now for some reason the comments reminded me of Suzanne Vega's, Luca - it's going to be in my head all afternoon!

Roses in the winter? Geez, what a harsh climate. :) This is a really beautiful variety and I love the soft look you've captured here.

Darn, Pepe took every single thing I was gonna say. But I'm voting even if it's copy catting.

Great to see Safrano looking so good Laine! I like both photos very much &
your little story. I must check out my Safrano, but mine won't be as nice
as yours - you're having much nicer weather.

This is just lovely....sometimes it's easier to shoot light colored flowers when it's overcast, rather than full sunlight, although the wind can make you nuts when you have to use a slow shutter speed....this turned out perfect! I love that you give some of the history of this particular variety, as well.

Hello Safrano... how do you like the winter? Have you many cousins as good looking as you?
