La Maison Blue

One of the main attractions of Penang is the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, in Georgetown. It was built in 1870 and has 38 rooms. This house had featured in the movie "Indochine" with Catherine Deneuve. The strong blue colour is striking and really looks nice in reality.

The restoration of this manion started in the 1990s and this effort has been recognised with many awards, including the UNESCO Conversation Award in 2000.

I have an almost identical picture. I see the Malaysian Tourist Office likes this one too. I entered my version in a competition at work and as a result it's been printed on the company calendar . Nice image!

i loved 'Indochine'... very sad movie but one of my favourites. didn't know they shot the film in penang!
