There have been many classic shots of the famous Bixby Bridge.
I took this on the way home and was looking for something different.
This is from the dirt road that took off up the canyon that looked inviting,
so it pulled me off the highway to investigate.
This is classic Big Sur; foggy, moody,
the rich shale colors breaking through the chapparal brush and the deep rugged ravines.
The smells are what take me back to 35 years ago;
the flinty dust that punctuates the salty sea air,
the faint sage smells of the brush and especially the dusty grass that is starting to change
into the summer browns that covers the hills behind me.
